Pilot In Command
Role:
The pilot in command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of the flight. The pilot in command shall meet the aeronautical experience requirements of FAR PART 135.243.
Responsibility:
The Pilot in Command’s specific duties are as follow:
- Must be knowledgeable of FARs, the Life Air, Inc. operations specifications, operations manual, and policies as well as applicable aircraft flight manuals.
- Must maintain current medical certification.
- Conducts preflight inspection of the aircraft.
- Cleans the aircraft exterior and interior.
- The pilot in command will ensure they meet the duty time limitations, and are properly rested.
- Plans the flight assignment and obtains weather briefings through a source approved by the Administrator.
- Determines the weight and balance is within the prescribed limits and completes the load manifest in accordance with the Life Air, Inc. operations manual.
- Ensures aeronautical charts are current and appropriate to the route of flight.
- Will ensure that the aircraft binder containing the required aircraft forms is accessible to the cockpit.
- Ensure all required airworthiness inspections are current.
- Opens Closes flight planes as appropriate.
- Conducts passenger briefings.
- Performs post flight inspections, and post flight briefings.
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure flight readiness and safe operations of Life Air, Inc. aircraft.
