Helicopter Transport Overview

Life Air, Inc. utilizes a team approach with a crew configuration of a registered nurse, and a paramedic both trained in advanced critical care procedures.  The word "team" here is crucial to Life; a strong cohesiveness between pilots, crew, mechanics and all involved is strongly encouraged. All Life Air, Inc. helicopters are twin engine aircraft to further enhance the safety of the mission.  There are three advantages to aero medical transport:

1. Speed: Modern helicopters routinely used in medical missions are capable of sustained speed in excess of 150 mph. Combined with the ability to move point to point, patient’s speed advantage may translate into a time-savings over other forms of patient transport
2. Accessibility: Vertical take-off and landing capabilities permit evacuation of patients from areas inaccessible to other transport vehicles. Ability to land at a scene of an incident bypasses traffic and other hazards associated with the incident.
3. Specialized Personnel & Technology: Aero medical services for the most part are based where the patients' needs really are. They are routinely equipped with sophisticated medical technology and bring their advanced capabilities to patients across a wide geographic area.
