About Us - History

Life Air's roots strech back over two decades with the formation of Life Ambulance Service Inc. The ambulance service was started in 1985 with two ambulances and 20 employees. It was developed to fill the need for a rapid response ambulance service in a somewhat rural area. Life has now grown to a company that stretches across several states, has 178 vehicles and over 950 employees, providing wheelchair transports, basic life support, advanced life support and mobile intensive care transports. On March 22, 2006 Life Air Inc. was established. Life Air Inc., received licensure from the State of Ohio in 2008 and the State of Indiana in May of 2009. The Air medical service is currently operating in Chillicothe and West Union, OH..

The addition of the air medical services to the existing services offered by Life Ambulance Service Inc., will allow the patients, customers and contracted facilities the opportunity to make one call for all of their medical transport needs.

During the past twenty-four years Life Ambulance Service Inc., has developed an excellent reputation for customer service and quality patient care. Life Ambulance Service Inc., has support structures in place to ensure quality service, such as the quality assurance program, an accredited education department and on staff CPA and legal counsel. Our Critical Intensive Care Paramedic course is offered in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Wayne Wheeler our Medical Director, is a licensed physician in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.

• Received 2004 “Star of Life Award” from the Ohio Academy of Emergency Physicians
• LIFE E.M.S. Academy is accredited by the Cleveland Clinic as a CICP-DSL 4/11/06
• Accredited by the Ohio department of Public Safety as a training institution 5/16/06
• Expanded into the West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana markets

LIFE Air Inc.

• Incorporated on 03/22/06
• Licensed by the Ohio Medical Transportation Board on 01/09/08
• Contracted with the “Cardinal Health System” for Air Medical Transport Services
• Received licensure from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to provide Air Ambulance Services
• Opened the Chillicothe Ohio Airbase October 2009
